Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church

Weddings at Triumph

A wedding is not only a significant milestone in the lives of the bride and groom, but it is also a significant time in the life of a congregation.  Triumph believes that "a Christian wedding is a public testimony of a man and a woman who stand before the witnessing congregation to seek God's blessing on their life together as they commit themselves to one another in marriage."

Member/Parishioner Weddings
For couples that are members or parishioners at Triumph, a couple must complete and submit the "Wedding Application" before a wedding date can be set on the church calendar. (These forms are available at the church office.)  Next, the couple will meet with a pastor.  This initial interview will be a time to get acquainted and discuss the process of preparing for a wedding at Triumph.

The pre-marital preparation process includes:
  • The completion of a relationship inventory.
  • The completion of 4-6 pre-marital counseling sessions.
  • The commitment to chastity preceding the wedding.
After the initial consultation with the pastor, the wedding date will be reserved on the church calendar.

We take seriously our responsibility as a church to encourage marriages.  This, of course, involves the planning of a wedding, but it especially involves preparation for marriage.  A Triumph wedding coordinator will assist the couple with planning their wedding.  A pastor will be responsible for helping the couple prepare for marriage.

Weddings for Those Outside Our Church
From time to time a wedding may take place at Triumph where neither the bride nor groom are members or parishioners of our church.  Because of our commitment to those currently attending Triumph, we tend to limit the number of weddings involving couples not actively involved in our congregational life.  Rare exceptions are made.

The following factors will be part of planning a wedding for a non-Triumph couple:
  • A firm wedding date cannot be reserved more than three months prior to the wedding date.
  • The fee for the use of the facility will be significantly higher than that paid by a member/parishioner.
  • The Fellowship Hall will typically not be available for hosting a reception.
If you have questions regarding a wedding at Triumph and you are not actively involved in our congregational life, please contact the church at (218) 233-4048..
